What is it about pushing buttons that is so addicting and inexplicably pleasurable? Even placebo buttons give you a sense of comfort – like the button to close the elevator doors faster. (I have an inkling this works 30% of the time?) And those buttons you can press at intersections to let the streetlights know that you want to cross the street, what’s up with those?
I think the comfort that you are taking some action feels better than doing nothing…it lets you escape the restlessness that is omnipresent, especially in the presence of strangers.
How do we quiet our bodies and minds and be comfortable with stillness and silence?
